Jamul
Jamul (L-tipai-kumeyaay, which means “foam”) is a [2] census-designated place (CDP) in San Diego County, California, USA. According to the United States Census Bureau, Jamul is at 32deg4336N, 116deg5256W. Jamul suffered from the Valley Fire, one of the California wildfires in 2020. At the 2010 census it had 6,163 inhabitants.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Jamul is a total area of 4.4 km2, of which 4.3 km2 is land and 0.78 km2 is water. At the 2010 census, the city had 6,163 inhabitants. The population density was 3,661 people per square mile ($1,514 / km2). The ethnic composition of the city was 53.00% (86.0%) white, 12.7% (2.1%) African American, 2.8% (1.5%) Indian, 14.6% (24%) Asian, 1.0% (02%) Pacific Islanders, 29.4% (48%), other races, 25.8% and 4.2% were two or more races.
Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1,188 (19.3%). The census showed that 6,105 people (99.1% of the population) lived in households in which at least 18 (0.3%) were in non-institutionalised groups and that about a quarter (4.0% to 0.6%) were institutionalised. One of the 1,906 households had 727 (38.1%) children under 18 years old, 1,409 (73.9%) were same-sex couples living with the housekeeper’s husband (13.6% to 7.1%), and 101 (53%) had the housekeeper’s wife.
The average household size was 3.20. There were 1646 families (86.4% of all households) with an average family size of 3.38. Of these, 68% (36%) were unmarried same-sex couples and 28% (15%) were same-sex couples or partnerships. The age distribution was 1,396 persons, 22.7% under 18 years, 58.5 persons, 9.5% between 18 and 24 years, 11.61 persons, 18.8% between 25 and 44 years, 21.98 persons, 35.7% between 45 and 64 years and 8.23 persons, 13.4% who were 65 years or older. The median age was 44.4 years.
Approximately 100% of women were under 18 and 99.1% of men. Of these, 100% were female and 101.0% were male. There were 1,874 residential units with an average density of 1,173 per square mile, of which 1,692 (88.8%) were self-occupied and 214 (11.2%) were rented. The vacancy rate for homeowners was 0.9% and the vacancy rate for rental apartments was 2.7%.
